Footy Tipping 2023 Results

Firstly, on behalf of all the punters, Ted, another great job well done, organising the footy tipping for the 2023 season, we do all appreciate your help.

After Round 24 – w/ending Sunday 27/08/2023

Now before announcing the winners, we do have $40 to give away to the best tipper of the round and whilst there is not a 9 to be had, its either give up the jackpot or I spend it at the bar.  Admittedly I was tempted for the latter, but with 4 punters nailing 7 correct tips it seemed only fair to award it to the best on the day.  With that said, awesome work picking 7 go to Hocks, welcome back you ol silver fox Chris, Harry and who is this Benno Hoffman wot thu! Well done chaps, so it came down to the margin and the narrowest was 25 with 7 tips and that belongs to Hocks!! Well done buddy, Shareen has $40 with your name on it. 

Now to the business end of tipping and there were challenges for the challengers trying to chase down our leader Darren, go after it with a few roughies or protect what you have and be happy for a smaller purse…phew what a conundrum!  As it turned out, seems courage forsook the masses and despite on nailing 5 winners on the weekend, Darren with a total of 149 correct tips is this years winner!!!! WELL DONE MATE!!!  You have been the leader for much of the season and staved off the challenges,  a very well deserved victory!  3 points adrift and one clear of the pack, second place has been secured by none other the Greg Munday with 146,  CONGRATS MATE!!!! You have been solid not just this season, but since I have run the tipping comp, all credit to you!  Finally, it came down to third place and with a strong finish Craig has joined Toby on 145 tips, many would consider it a tie, however that is why we have margins and Craig compliments of a superior margin has knocked Toby off the podium and secured third spot, WELL DONE TO YOU JOHNO!!  So folks this is how our season finished.

Yet again folks, it has been a pleasure to bring you this years tipping comp and thank you all for participating!  I thoroughly enjoy sending out our weekly wrap and hope you enjoy the nonsense and dribble that I spew out on a weekly basis.  We had a record number of punters this year, at least since I have run it, but would love to see even more next year, the more punters the better the prizes!!  Congratulations to our three winners and commiserations to Tobes, so close mate!!

If your team is in the finals race best of luck and with one last hurrah, I will sign off from 2023 and look forward to going around again in 24!!

After Round 23 – w/ending Sunday 20/08/2023

So, to our tipping comp in the second last round and no folks it did not go off, so we have $40 to give away in the final dance of season 23.  A great effort however to Eric and Bill who both nailed 8, no mean feat, there were 5 note worthy tippers to score 7 so well done to Baz, Kevin D, John, Tobes and our old mate Rowley, well done all! The vast majority of us managed 6 correct tips, while a further 17 of us managed 5, Shaz did you crumble under pressure or just take a punt on roughies to get amongst it?  Hmmmm!  There were of course just a couple of us managed 4, in fact 6, I suspect there was some serious risk taking going on over the weekend and Tipless may have the last say.

And so, with just one round left how is our leader board looking?  With a total of 144 tips and a lead of 3 Darren looks to have top spot all sewn up, but isn’t that what they said about Collingwood 3 weeks ago?  Now top spot might be just about done, but what about minor placings and with a share of 141 both Greg and Toby may yet have something to say, will they risk it to snatch the lead or will they try and protect what they have, what a conundrum!!  Let’s not forget Mick Wooly who on 140 is still not done with and the same could be said for Craig who on 139 may yet grab a podium finish.  Kevin and John are both on 138 and would need one heck of a finish to get amongst it, but ya never know.

After Round 22 – w/ending Sunday 13/08/2023

Now to our comp and DING DING DING!!!! Prizes flooding out the door.  First to the Derby and its fair to say no-one saw a 101 point mauling coming, however there was one of us who did see a Freo win to the tune of 55 points and that masterful stroke belongs to Dave Cugley, well done mate!!!!  Shareen has $50 all wrapped up for you so Congrats on the win.  It is also fair to say that snagging 9 correct on the weekend may have been a tad tricky, BUT NO!! there was one of us who did just that!! Dan “the man” Regazzo take a bow sir!! Well done mate all 9 tips correct, pure skill or pure arse, 9 is 9 mate and $60 will be waiting for you in the safe hands of Shareen, Well Done indeed!! Now there were also 7 of us who deserve a mention for tipping 8 correctly which is no small achievement me thinks and while it pains me to congratulate some, well done to that wiley ol Silver fox Chris, Sammy, Desmond (nice one mate) Pabs, Dean, Rowley and Rob (yeh wot eva!!)  There were 19 of us correctly nailed 7 winners over the weekend while a further 15 of us found that despite our courageous efforts, 6 was all we managed.  Oh dear, Oh dear! There were just two tippers who found the weekend just a bit tougher again with 5 the best they could muster, Mr Tipless may have a fun, oops I mean some good advice for you.

Ok, so where does that leave us in terms of our leaderboard and having shown great form all season and despite of a slight hick up mid season,  Darren still leads the way, out in front by 3 with a total of 138.  Some may say unassailable, but if the season has shown one thing, tips can change in a heart beat!  A solid weekend from Greg has now seen him jump clear into second with 135 tips while Craig, Woolley, and Tobes are locked in a battle for third with 134 a piece.  Shareen may yet have something to say about the outcome, right there with 132 while Kevin, John and Harry, all with 131 are almost in contention.  It appears safe to say, beyond that, the rest of us will look to a strong pre season and hone our skills for 2024!

After Round 21 – w/ending Sunday 06/08/2023

Suffice to say a bit of Hawk carnage did our tips no great favour and 9 was a match too far, ensuring a jackpot this week. It would appear however that just one of us, oh dear, had they stayed true to their team would have snatched the money, Daveeyyyyyyy!!! No you cant have your money back mate!! But a great effort none-the-less with 8 winners (why did you tip pies mate😊😊) ohhhh sooo close!!  There were no fewer than 21 of us managed to snag 7 winners, which I must say is quite commendable, particularly as I was one of em 😊,  11 punters did manage 6 correct tips while a further 9 of us, found the going a little tough and could manage but 5, one in particular surrendering a personal lead, ooopsie!!! 😊Finally we did have a couple of our most experienced and wise punters manage but 4!! Oh Dear and it is fair to say that Old Tipless takes no pleasure in offering advice to, yep you guessed it, that Ol Silver Fox Chris and his mate Bill.

After Round 20 – w/ending Sunday 30/07/2023

With all that tipping carnage, what did it do to our comp, and while the scores were average to say the least, there was no real stand out….or was there?  Having endured the taunts of Tipless and even Waldorf and Statler, Evo, mate what happened, 5 snags if you don’t mind and enough to be the top tipper for the week, well done mate!!  He was not alone however as Aaron L also somehow managed to pick 5 winners, nicely played big fella!  There were 9 of us who correctly managed 4 tips, while the vast majority of us, 20 in fact, found but 3 winners over the weekend.  There were 9 tippers who scraped together just 2 correct tips, maybe a bit more faith in their team would be in order, Hmmmmm, and finally we had 4 tippers who could manage but 1, Mr Tipless I am sure has some sage words of advice.

And so, to our leader board and despite the challenges presented our leaders have maintained their edge over the competition, the top 12 looking a little like this:

After Round 19 – w/ending Sunday 23/07/2023

With close encounters and cracking games played out, tipping this week, one would have thought, would prove a challenge and yet our punters showed poise and skill with the pen, no fewer than 12 of us managing a perfect score, quite an impressive achievement and well done to Greenie, Dan, Hocks, Shaz, Greg, Alan Day jnr, Chris, Roger, Ted, Eric, Dave C and Chris Morgo!! 😊  Well done indeed to all!!  With $40 on offer, there naturally can be only one and margin became all important……drum roll if you don’t mind, with a narrow margin of just 6, Greenie has taken out the pot, well done Greenie!! You know the drill mate, see Shaz and she will get it sorted for ya.  As to the remaining tippers, 13 managed to land 8 winners, a mighty fine effort, while a further 11 punters managed 7, some maybe trying to protect a lead, hmmm 😊There were a couple of 6’s in there and my goodness, there were even a pair of threes, that won’t win a poker hand!! But good effort to Evo and Dave S, Tipless may have something more to add!                                                                                                                                                                    

With the season rushing to its conclusion I shall for the moment list the top 10 (although it will actually be 12 this week) as I suspect these will be the only tippers in contention for a podium finish, and as we draw closer, I may refrain from listing any at all, just to build the suspense!!  Anyhoo, it looks like this with Darren asserting his authority on the comp, taking a commanding lead.  Darren J with 121, Greg at 119, Craig, Mick W & Tobes at 118, Morgo, Shaz, John B, Brett C, Roger, Dave C & Harry on 115.    

It may come down to the top 5 battling it out for honors, but there is time still for a late charge!  Well done to our top 10 (12) thus far, good tipping folks.

After Round 18 – w/ending Sunday 16/07/2023

And so, to our comp, and despite the turmoil of upsets there were 4 of us, yes 4! Who managed to snare 8, pretty piss poor really when 9 wins the chockies😊  Not really!, well done to Darren, Tobes, Craig and Steve, mate what a week, 8 correct tips and a hole in 1!! What a legend!  7 tips proved quite popular with 7 punters managing that score, while the vast majority of us, 15 in fact found that 6 tips was to our liking.  There were 11 punters who managed 5 winners on the weekend, while a further 5 of us could manage but 4.  There were just 3 of us who found the weekend a tad tough and succumbed to the tipping pressure cooker with 3 the best they could muster.  Oh dear, Kel, Pabs and Evo (I see a pattern forming!) As does Tipless who has these profound words for ya.

Ahh yes and now to our leader board, look out!! Darren has reascended the throne!  And with his crown back in place sits on 113 tips after snagging 8, well done mate.  Darren is just one clear of Johno on 112 and 3 clear of Greg, Wooly and Tobes who are all on 110. Johnny B a bit of a sneaky is on 108 and then Harry Harry, where the f—k is Harry after a bit of a disaster also sits on 108.  In 8th place on 107 sits Brett C while Morgo, Kevin, Shaz, Roger and David all have a share of 106.  Wisey, courtesy of his 8 is now on 105 a total he shares with Garry, while on 104 you will find Mick C and Col.  Moving to 103 tips Rob is now a centurion along with the ol Silver Fox, slipping a bit Chris,  Haydos and Dean. Baz, Dave S and Dan are on 101 and rounding out our centurions are Russ and Aaron L, both on 100.  The rest of us, hmmmmm, looks like we are going into rebuilding mode!!

After Round 17 – w/ending Sunday 09/07/2023

Now here at MCC, the tipping for many had been looking sweeeeet!! But for one wise soul the tipping was looking AWESOME!! Well done to Col Badrock who somehow snared 9 correct winners!! Well done mate, you know the drill, Shaz has $40 very tasty dollars for ya!  As it turns out, 8 was a very popular result, apparently not everyone believed in their own at home, but 15 punters landed 8 which was a very fine effort indeed.  The vast majority of us, 19 in fact, landed 7 correct tips, not a real bad effort at all I reckon, but I was one of em so hey, this is my email so bugger off😊!  There were 6 tippers who landed, well 6 while another 2 of us thought 5 was an acceptable achievement, there was of course just one of us who could manage only 3, I mean really, 3! Evo, Tipless is gonna luv ya for this one mate.

Alrighty then, to our leader board and oh hark! King Harry has been toppled!! With resurgent skill, Darren has reclaimed top spot, his 8 propelling him to 105  tips as the centurion’s roll in and he is closely followed by Craig, Greg, the oh so not loyal one, Mick Wooley and Harry on 104,  Toby, John and Brett C, curtesy of 8 tips have also hit the ton and now sit on 102, closely followed by Morgo, go the Crows!, Kevin, Roger, Colin B and Dave C all cracking the ton with 100.  Kelvin, Shaz and the ol Silver fox, Chris (miss you at the club mate!) are all on 99 and not far off the pace, while one further back on 98 you will find Mick C, Haydos and Garry.  Sneaking into the top 20 by the skin of his teeth is Rob who on 97 shares this with Steve and Dean.  As to the rest of us….pull our collective fingers out! Cause this horse has nearly bolted!!

After Round 16 – w/ending Sunday 02/07/2023

Sooooo, to our tipping and of course, compliments of a Demon loss to GWS the 9 did not go off this week, there were however any number of us who correctly snared 8 winners, in fact there were 30!! Not a bad effort at all.  Of the remaining 14 tippers, 13 scored 7 correctly, there was however just one who could manage only 5, never mind Evo, I am sure Tipless will have some sage words for you. 

And now our leaderboard still has Harry out in front on 98 tips, although his margin is just one with Darren back in form and hot on his heals with 97.  With 96 tips Greg, Craig and Wooley are right in the mix while Toby, John and Brett C are two further adrift with 94.  Morgo, Kev and Dave are next in line with 93.  On 92 you will find Mick C, Kel,  Roger and the silver fox Chris with Shaz, Col and Garry all on 91.  Rounding out our top 20 are Rob and Dave S who have 90 along with Haydos, Dean and Dan.  There are but 10 tips that separate the top 27 punters, but it is starting to get tough for any tippers keen on a late charge.

After Round 15 – w/ending Sunday 25/06/2023

Alright, alright, I know you want to get to the real stuff and of course in our tipping comp, skills were on display as no fewer than 9 of us managed to get all six correct, congrats to Morgo, Greg, Hayden, Steve, Kevin, Mick, Darren, Shaz and Baz!  Well done all.  Naturally enough there were any number of 5’s in the mix, 16 of us in fact which is a very good effort.  There were 11 of us who managed a creditable 4 tips while a further 7 of us could only manage 3.  It was left to just one who could only see 2 winners on the weekend and me ol mate Tipless may have something to say Benno. 

So, with all those 6’s going off, it came down once again to the margin and after receiving late night texts from one very excited punter and with a margin almost perfect, Morgo has taken the prize this weeks with a margin of just 2, nice one mate and no doubt Greg will be shattered as he may have been feeling quite happy with his margin of 6!  Hi stakes folks, Morgo, $20 is yours mate, you know the walk, its not your first Rodeo, off to see Shaz with ya!

It has now tightened up a little more on the leader board as whilst Harry still remains on top with 90 tips, Darren is back to his best form and now holds second place on 89!  Greg, Craig and Wooley are all toughing it out for third with 88 tips, while Toby, John and Brett C and snapping at their heals with 86.  Morgo, compliments of his solid weekend has jumped into the top 10 and now sits on 85 alongside of Kev, Dave and me ol mate the silver fox Chris who is back in form.  With 84 tips you will find Mick C, Kel, Shaz, Roger and Colin while with 83 and pretty much rounding out our top 20 are Dave S, Hayden, Garry and Dan.

After Round 14 – w/ending Sunday 18/06/2023

Now, whilst some of these games could have gone either way, there were a number of us, 8 in fact, who found this week to their liking and correctly scored 6 tips!! Nicely done and congrats go to Darren, Roger, Brett C, Col, Dan, Greg, Mick W, and Dessie.  Of course that means that our jackpot has gone off, and with so many clever punters it all came down to the margin.  Drum roll please as we build suspense……………..with the nearest margin being just 7 points, the jackpot has been won by none other than Des!!!!! Well done mate, not bad for a Hawks supporter 😊 You know the drill mate, go and see Shaz, she will sort you out with some folding and I will meet you at the bar for a beer!!  There were 12 of us who managed 5 correct tips, not a bad effort at all and a further 16 punters nabbing 4 winners.  Sadly, there were a few of us, who’s misguided faith only managed 3 tips, but of course just to keep Tipless employed, one of us managed a lowly 2….on ya Benno!!

So what effect did all of these tips have on our leader board?  Out on top Harry, despite only getting 4 tips, has maintained his two point advantage and sits on 85, however recent leader Darren will not be still and his 6 boosts him back into second with 83! a number he shares with Craig.  Similarly, Greg and Micks 6 has boosted their standings and they now have 82 correct tips.  With 81 tips to their credit, Toby, David, John and Brett C and next in line with Kelvin, Colin and The Silver fox Chris one further back on 80.  Close behind them with 79 are Morgo, Mick C, Kevin, Roger and Dan with Shaz, Gav, David S and Garry rounding out our top 20 on 78.

After Round 13 – w/ending Monday 12/06/2023

With all that carnage, 7 was a bridge to far for our gallant team of tippers, however, 6 was a damn fine effort and it was secured by none other than Benno!! 6 mate, great effort! just think, one more tip (thanks Freo 😊) Now 5 was not a bad effort at all either and this was shared by no fewer than 11 of us, while a further 18 punters managed to secure 4 correct tips.  With a barely passable 3 correct tips, 10 punters secured that correctly and rounding us out there were 4 who managed a lowly 2, which has thrown the leader board into chaos!!  And now to our leader board which it is fair to say has been thrown wide open, although Harry who is now on 81 sits 2 clear on top!  With 79 tips Craig now has some clear air with Darren 2 further adrift on 77, my my what a changing landscape!  Toby and Chris also hold a share of 77 while Greg, Mick Woolly, Tobes and Chris all sit one further back on 76.  Kel, Kev, Brett C and David all share 75 correct tips, while with 74 correct tips you will find Morgo, Mick C and Col.  There are a group on 23 that includes Shaz, Roger, Rob, Gav,  Russ, Garry, Haydos, Dean and Dan and that folks is our top 25 punters.

After Round 12 – w/ending Sunday 04/06/2023

Sooo, after upsets and shocks, the best we could muster was six correct tips, which in fairness ain’t a bad result and one shared by Steve, Craig, Dean, Toby, Aaron L, Greenie (Wot Thu!!) and Col, well done all, a great effort indeed. 13 Punters found 5 tips to their liking while the remaining 24 of us managed to grab 4 winners.  Of course, that means our weekly prize pool has jackpotted and now sits on $60 as the split rounds continue.  And, so, to our leader board.  Harry has maintained his hold on top spot for a second week, albeit with a reduced margin.  With 76 correct tips, Harry is our leader but Toby and Craig are in hot pursuit, just one adrift on 75.  Darren is not letting go easily and now has 74 tips, while one further back on 73 are Greg and yep you guessed, the wiley, silver fox, Chris!  Mick W and David C are both right in the mix with 72, with Mick C, Kel, Kev and John hot on their heels with 71.  With a share of 70 you will find Brett C, Dave S, Dean and Dan.  Rounding out our top 20 (give or take a couple) Morgo, Shaz, Gav, Col, Garry and Hayden all are on 69.

After Round 11 – w/ending Sunday 28/05/2023

Now, whilst all this was unfolding, our tips were imploding, in fact 5 was the best we could muster, a distinction shared by Mick Wooly, Baz, Rob, Morgo, Harry and yours truly! Wooohoooo!!!  As you might expect, 4 was quite popular with no fewer that 16 of us recording that number, it gets better but as there were 19 of us, yes 19 who managed only 3!!  Now there were also a couple of 2’s in there, a late charge from a certain greenie who was staring at a donut with 2 games to go saving himself from Tipless’s mirth, however Sammy, Sammy!! 1 correct tip, gets you right in the wheelhouse of Tipless, good luck mate!

With all this tipping chaos there has been much movement on the leaderboard and in fact we now have a new club house leader!  After 8 weeks on top, Darren has slipped, with Harry taking the mantel on a total of 71!  Darren now has a share of second on 69 along with Greg, Chris, that sly ol fox!, Craig and Toby.  Next on 68 you will find David with one further back on 67 the two Micks (yes micks not d…s) and John are right in the mix, no pun intended 😊Kel, Kev, Brett C, David and Daniel are all on 66, while Shaz, Garry, Gav and Hayden, all on 65 pretty much round out our top 20.  With that said there are but 7 tips separating the top 25 punters so it is quite a tight race this season!

After Round 10 – w/ending Sunday 21/05/2023

Now with all that carnage, it does not seem unreasonable to think that 9 may have proven a little challenging this week, but no wait… there was one of us who, through pure arse I suspect 😊, managed to grab all 9 and with that our weekly prize jackpot of $40 has gone off, well done to Rob, $40 is all yours buddy and Shareen will gladly hand it over for you!!  There were of course 4 of us who managed a very creditable 8, well done to Harry, Mick Woolly, Dave S and Rowley (he’s back!!!) the vast majority of us, 18 in fact, managed a very handy 7, while 17 more punters scored 6 correct tips, oh if they only had faith in their own.  There were just 2 punters that managed 5 tips, while one of us, no names mentioned, greenie, snared 4!  Not to be outdone, Aaron L, way to go buddy, managed a very classy 3, oh dear Tipless may have his work cut out this week!

Alrighty then, our leaderboard has suddenly got a whole lot more interesting as we now have 4, yep you heard right, 4 punters all with a share of the lead on 66, Johno, Darren, Toby and Harry all vying for top spot which makes this our closest tipping yet!  They are not alone as Greg, David C and Chris, yep, the ol silver fox, are snapping at their heels on 65.  Mick C, Kevin and John all on 63 round out our top 10 so it really is a very close comp this year.  5 of us have a share of 62 and are right in the mix, Kel, Shaz and Wooly, Brett C and Dan all holding on, while on 61 are Roger, Gavin, Garry, Dean and Hayden.  One further back on 60 is Colin, while hanging in there on 59 are Morgo, Baz, Rob, Ted, Col E, Russ, Steve and Al Day Snr.   Aaron L, Bill, Sam and Glen are 1 further back on 58, while Ben, Rowley and Brett A share 57 correct tips. Behind them on 55 are Pablo, Marc and Des while Curls is one further back on 54 and further still on 52 are Dave (nup, still cant have ya money back!) and Al Day Jnr.  That leaves us just one punter holding up the entire field, on ya Greenie, draft picks don’t apply to tipping comps mate, just in case your wondering! 😊

After Round 9 – w/ending Sunday 14/05/2023

Suffice to say that with upsets aplenty, tipping 9 was nigh on impossible and of course the prize has jackpotted back to $40.  There was one of us, however, who snagged 8 which I reckon was pretty bloody impressive!! Well done Harry and that brings you way back into contention!  The vast majority of us did manage 7 correct tips which once again was no mean feat, while there were also plenty of 6’s and 5’s and yes oh dear there were even a couple of 4’s giving Tipless much fodder for advice!

So with all that said and done, our leader is still Darren, although his buffer has been mightily eroded!  Sitting on 60 correct tips he is just one point clear of the chasing pack and on 59 Craig, Greg and Toby are snapping at his heels.  Right there with them sit David C, that ol Silver fox Chris and Harry whose 8 has him sharing 58 correct tips.  Mick C and Kevin are both on 57 and right in the hunt, John has 56 tips all to himself, while Kelvin, Shaz, Gav, Aaron L, David S, Brett C, Hayden, Garry and Dan, all on 55 pretty much completing our top 20.

After Round 8 – w/ending Sunday 07/05/2023

And that folks is how it all unfolded.  Fair to say it was as many of us anticipated as no fewer than 18 of us, yes 18!!! Tipped 9 correctly not a bad effort at all if I do say so, particularly when I was one of the 18 😊 woohoooo!! Great effort to Sam, Mick W, Greg, Roger, Brett A, David, Craig, Brett C, Morgo (wow must have been an easy round 😊, Hayden, Dean, David S, Tobes, Mick C, Ted, Kevin, John and Baz, nicely done chaps!!  There were 16 of us tipped 8 correctly which I must say is a mighty fine effort, 5 of us tipped 7 and a further 5 of us rounded the week with 6 correct tips.  Ahh it is a sad day when Tipless has to step up and help out those poor souls who could only muster 6, but step up he shall! Here’s to you Russ, Greenie (again!!!) and the Day boys, wot thu!

Thanks Tipless, now to our leader board and while his lead has been diminished ever so slightly Darren still holds sway on top with 54 to his credit.  Moving up the board and hot on his heals are Craig, Toby and Greg all on 52 and right in the hunt while one further back on 51 sit Kevin, David C and Morgo.  With 50 correct tips you will find Michael, Shareen and Harry and that rounds out our top 10. There are quite a few of us with 49 tips taking out our top 20 while on 48 are yet another cluster of tippers who are still in the hunt.  6 punters are right there on 47, while after some early form Steve has slipped back and is now on 46.  There are 4 tippers sharing 45, Bill is there on 44,  Eric and Rowley are on 43, Pablo on 42 and Daveeeyyyyyy, true to his team, is making like Simon and Garfunkel and Slip sliding away 😊still can’t have ya money back but!!

 

Now there is of course the question of our $40 jackpot for tipping 9 and as are the rules of the game, there can be only one!!  Whilst many of us tipped 9 correctly only one tipper all but nailed the margin, 1 point separating him from a perfect score!!! Well done Sammy, $40 is all yours mate so pop in and see Shareen who will sort you out!

After Round 7 – w/ending Sunday 30/04/2023

Naturally, with all the upsets, 9 has proven to much for our tipsters, 7 in fact was the best we could muster, a result shared by Johno, Bill, Benno and David C, well done chaps!!  There were no less than 22 of us managed 6, would have been one more except for some misguided fool’s sudden impulse to think his team might win at home….oh my, Tipless has his work cut out!!  13 punters did manage 5 correct tips, while another 4 of us found that 4 was as good as it would get.  There was however one punter who’s 3, yes 3, has had Tipless scratching his head, but hopefully with thoughtfulness and compassion has some sage advice for ya Greenie (is this your second time around…you and Tipless got something going on?)

And so folks  to our comp and its no surprise to see Darren still out in front on 46 if you don’t mind and maintaining a 3 point buffer from the challengers who are starting to mount with Craig, Toby, Greg and Chris (yes the ol silver fox😊) all snapping at his heels on 43.  Rounding out our top 10 are Kevin, David C, Alan, Shareen and Harry who are all on 42 while Michael, Kelvin, Gavin, Russel, Aaron, Gary and Dan are all on 41.  With 40 correct tips you will find David S, John, Colin E and Brett C, while one further back on 39 are Col B, Steve, Ted, Hayden and Dean.  6 of us hold on with 38 tips at this stage while another 4 of us are on 37.  There are a couple of 36’s next while there are 4 of us including Rowley who has dragged himself off the canvas and now sits on 35.  Holding up the board and obviously going out in sympathy with his team are Daveeey (no you still cant have your money back!!) and Pabs who with 34 need to pull the finger out!

After Round 6 – w/ending Tuesday 25/04/2023 – Anzac Round

WOW!!!  With a superb weekend of footy behind us, how did we fare in our tipping?  Yes folks, the 9 has gone off WOOOHOOOOO!!!!! There were no fewer than 4 of us tipped all 9 so congrats to Al Day, Dave Stiles, Russ Telford and Toby Green for tipping 9 correctly!!!  There can of course be only one and with a margin of 17 being nearest to the winning margin, DRUM ROLL PLEASE…………WELL DONE TO AL DAY, $120 bucks mate go see Shaz and its your shout!!  Many of us managed to secure 8, 15 of us in fact so well done to all who chose well.  A further 14 of us managed to nab 7 correct tips, no mean feat, while a further 9 of us managed 6.  Oh dear, there were a couple of us who’s misguided faith managed only 5, in particular a certain brother of a certain tipping comp Administrator and it gives me no pleasure at all to ask Mr Tipless to offer some kind words of wisdom to help in your recovery.  Yeh you wont miss out either Marc 😊

Now there was the additional prize up for grabs in this round, which of course was $50 to the tipper who managed to tip the winner of today’s game and was nearest the margin.  Whilst there was a few of us to did not let me know, there was one tipper who not only picked the Pies to win, also picked em by 13 points.  Well done and Congrats to Darren Jeffries!!!! Mate pop in a see Shaz, oh yeh its your shout too!! 😊

With only 7 correct tips to his credit this week, Darren has still managed to hold on to top spot has now entered the 40’s.  3 adrift but closing there are a group of us on 37 that includes that stalwart, Kevin, Tobes who’s 9 has brought him right into contention, Greg who would have got 9 had it not been for one bad choice and the Ol Silver fox Chris who quietly goes about his business..look out chooks in the hen house!  Johno has snuck into 7 place on 36 along with Kelvin, Al (compliments of a very good 9) and Shaz who is keeping the boys honest at this stage.  There are a bunch of us on 35 tips with Mick C, Dave C, Gav, Steve, Russel, Aaron L, John,  Gary and Daniel all holding in there.  On 34 tips you will find Dave S, Col B, Ted, Col E, Brett C and Hayden, while one further back on 33 are Morgo, Rob, Baz, Marc, Mick W and Dean.  Greenie is on 32 along with Roger, Brett A, while on 31 sit Al, Hocks, and Eric.  On 30 you will find Dave (no you cant have your money back!!) Benno, and Sammy while rounding out the comp on 29 are Rowley (moving up mate!) Pabs and Dessie (c’mon mate, even the Hawks aren’t on the bottom!!)

After Round 5 – w/ending Sunday 16/04/2023

With the round out of the way, lets see how we all fared.  It goes without saying that the pot has yet again jackpotted on account of the 9 that no-one got and she now sits at a very handy $120 big ones!!  With what was maybe an easy round, there were 10 of us who managed a very creditable 8 (ohh those Demons!!!) Well done to Shaz (two weeks in a row and on a roll!!) David, Kelvin, Aaron L, Rob, Morgo, Gav, Col B, John and Darren J.  There were no fewer than 16 of us who thought 7 was quite acceptable, and rightly so!, while a further 12 of us managed to snag 6 winners.  There were 5 of us who managed 5 and yes folks, there was a single punter who managed 4 (oh Dear) after searching high and low for guidance, Tipless has these sage words for ya Hocks.

And so, to our leader board and its Mr Consistency, Darren sits atop the mountain on 33, a handy 3 point leader from Harry who has good early form on 30.  Craig, Kevin D, Shaz (noice!!) Steve, Aaron L, that ol silver fox Chris and Greg the oh so devoted Dockers fan (but will he tip em Friday) all sit on 29, while Kelvin on 28 rounds out our top 10.  There are quite a few of us on 28 with many more hot on their heels with 27.  Plenty of us have 26 and 25 while 24 and 23 hold form for a few more of us.  Benno sits alone on 22 at this stage but look out for a charge while Rowley needs to extract the digit as 21 is looking precarious!!

After Round 4 – w/ending Sunday 09/04/2023

Straight off the bat, no surprises once again but 9 correct tips continues to be a very sneaky little bastard and we have now jackpotted once again, this weeks purse rolling on to $100, mmmm, mmmmm!! 😊  There was of course one very skilled punter who snared 8 correct tips and launched herself up the leader board, well done Shaz!!!  Amidst all the carnage of favoured teams losing, it appears that no fewer than 12 of us managed 7, skillful or pure arse, you be the judge! But nonetheless well done to Mick W, Greg, Colin E, Harry, Dave, Steve, Michael, Colin B, Aaron, Kevin, Darren and Haydn!.  The vast majority of us 19 in all managed 6 correct tips while a further 10 of us could squeeze out 5.  It did leave just one punter our solitary 4 picker at the bottom of the weeks tipping, sorry Brett, Tipless has some advice for you mate

So folks, our top 10 looks like this:  Out in front on 25 and looking very solid sits Darren a picture of consistency!, he is closely followed on 23 by Craig and Harry both showing good early season form. Kevin a true stalwart of our comp is on 22 along with Steve, a newbie this year along side his old mate Greg who has a handy knack of not tipping his team, hmmm.  There is quite a cluster of us on 21 correct tips, taking us all the way to 14 Marc, Shaz, Colin E, Toby, Brett C,  Aaron, the Old Silver fox Chris and Daniel. There are big numbers on 20 and 19 but even at this early stage of the season we are starting to spread the field!

After Round 3 – w/ending Sunday 02/04/2023

And now folks to our tipping comp, despite the alert, there were a number of us who neglected to choose a winner and margin between Freo and West Coast, but of those that did, the numbers did slightly favour Freo.  Of course there can be only one, and with a margin of 35 points in favour of Freo, Brett Allen, you have won yourself a tasty $50 mate, well done indeed!!  Naturally enough the weekly tipping has jackpotted so $80 will now be the purse for round 4.  As mentioned, tipping proved to be somewhat challenging with 6 tips the best we could offer and only 1 of us managed that!! Nice work Harry, but 6 will win ya f all mate, get 3 more and we can talk!! 😊.  12 Punters did manage to grab 5 correct tips which in all fairness was a pretty good effort, while a further 14 of us snared 4.  There were of course 8 of us managed 3 tips and yet another 9 of us rounded out the tipping with just 2 correct tips OH DEAR!!

So to the leader board and just like that, Toby has been dethroned and we now have joint leaders with Craig and Darren sharing the spoils on 18.  With his 6 tips, Harry has now jumped into third on 16 with a big group now on 15 including, Kevin, Steve, Toby, Brett, Chris M, Russell, Daniel, Greg and Marc.  I have attached a full list of tippers with this email which you will hopefully be able to open and see where you sit in the scheme of things.

After Round 2 – w/ending Sunday 26/03/2023

So, with such a topsy turvy round, is it any wonder that 9 has eluded us again! And we shall now jackpot once more, this weeks pot now reaching $60 and starting to look a little sexy!!  With that said, 7 was a fine effort indeed and Craig, well done mate, was our sole punter to snag that number, catapulting him up the leader board.  6 was a fine effort indeed a feat achieved by 8 of us, while 13 of us managed 5 correct tips. 19 punters managed a sub 50% pass with 4 tips, while there were a couple of 3’s in the mix, 3 to be exact.  So, to the leader board and Toby maintains his stand from on high with a total of 13 tips, a number he is now sharing with Craig and Darren.  1 adrift on 12 sit Rob and yours truly, while with 11 we see Kevin, Michael C, Marc, Al, Bill, Dan, Sam and Shaz who round out the top 13.  Next week I will endeavour to put a full leaderboard up for all.    There is of course the matter of the other end of the board and Rowley, with your 3 tips this week, Tipless has come up with a bit of advice mate!

After Round 1 – w/ending Sunday 19/03/2023

It could have gone any way in this first round, but alas, the 9 has eluded us for round 1 and so we shall jackpot for the first time in 2023.  Just quickly, thanks to all who have joined, we have 43 punters on board, which is fantastic and does give us quite a nice purse to offer.  Well done all I say!  I will keep this to the top 10, otherwise I may have a mutiny on my hands, but I will endeavour to post a full ladder as we move forward.  Now who would have thunk it, but Tobes, well done mate, has led us out of the blocks with 8 correct tips, just proving that ability is not necessarily a criteria in tip picking!! 😊.  With 7 correct tips, Darren J and Dan have made strong starts to the season holding down 2nd and 3rd spots while no less than 18 of us landed 6 correct tips, rounding out the top 10 you will find Rob, Kevin, yours truly, Roger, Bill, Gavin and David C.  Sadly, there were a couple of us who found the going a little tough in round 1 and of course there is always someone who must take up the cudgels and hold the ladder up, don’t worry Greenie.
