Covid Update – Members Covid Requirements as of 31 January 2022

Dear Members,
As you will be aware, in accordance with the Western Australian Government’s announcement relating to proof of vaccination (POV) requirements from the 31st January 2022, new operational procedures and rules are required to ensure we adhere to the new restrictions imposed by Government. Please carefully read the following information.
Accordingly, on Monday 24th January 2022, the Management Committee enacted the following By-Law requiring that all Members, guests and visitors must be fully vaccinated to enter the Mandurah Country Club precinct, including Clubhouse, Course, Practice facilities and all surrounds:
BY-LAW 10.5
- Effective Monday 31 January, the Western Australia Government ‘proof of vaccination requirements’ will expand to apply to venues and events state-wide. The Mandurah Country Club (MCC) is licenced and accordingly falls within the list of expanded venues.
- The Management Committee require that a Member, a guest of a member 16 years of age or over and any other person proposing to visit the Club who is 16 years of age or over must not enter or remain on any part of the premises of the Club or any land occupied by the Club (including the golf course, car park, practice areas, storage facilities) unless that person provide appropriate evidence in the form of an Australian Immunisation Record or COVID-19 digital certificate, that they:
- have had 2 doses of a COVID 19 vaccine, and any mandated booster vaccine within 1 month of eligibility (Fully Vaccinated), or;
- if subject to an exemption from vaccination, have a medical contraindication certificate issued to the person.
- Any person, when entering the MCC premises, if asked to do so by any Management Committee member, or employee of the Club, must produce to that committee member or employee:
- If not known to the committee or staff member, evidence (such as a driver’s licence) showing the person’s name; or
- if the person is under the age of 16 years, evidence to that effect;
- if the person is 16 years of age or over, evidence from the Australian Immunisation Register that the person is Fully Vaccinated for COVID 19; or
- a medical contraindication certificate issued to the person if the person has an exemption.
There are several ways proof of vaccination can be demonstrated, both in a digital and paper-based form. Please follow the enclosed link for more detailed information.
Unvaccinated Members
Any current member that does not intend to be fully vaccinated or has not yet been fully vaccinated by the 31st of January, will be placed into a Temporary Holding Membership and we request you notify the General Manager immediately to arrange transfer to this category. It is understood that the vaccination requirement is not supported by some members, and we respect their right to make individual decisions.
For those members, we recommend you make an appointment to meet with the General Manager Grant Shortland-Jones who will discuss and outline the options for you to consider. The Management Committee and staff understand that this is a very difficult decision for those members, and we will endeavour to manage their transition in a mutually acceptable way.
Vaccinated Members or those subject to an Exemption
We require all members to have their Vaccination Certificate or Exemption to the Administration office prior to the 31st of January 2022. If any members require assistance or advice on how to go about this, please contact our General Manager for assistance.
As can be appreciated, the logistics of managing this transition are demanding and it may take a little while for procedures to ‘bed-down’ and some aspects may not go smoothly to start with. We ask for your patience and understanding and it will assist us greatly if you adhere to the following requests:
- All members to show their MCC membership card at all service areas. Member Cards are our preferred method of payments, which streamlines the ability to serve members in a timely manner. In due course your membership card will serve as POV.
- If you do not show your membership card, you will be required to show your Medical POV at every service point for every sale. Please do not assume that all employees know every member, especially with many new employees so please show respect and understanding if requested to show POV.
- Venues, staff and patrons have a shared responsibility when it comes to showing proof of vaccination and therefore, at any time, you still may be required to show your government approved POV upon request. Failure to do so may lead to being asked to leave the premises.
- All members are responsible to ensure any invited guest to the club is fully vaccinated.
- All non-members will be required to show their POV before playing golf or using the hospitality facility.
January 31st 2022 Imperative
Any Member that is not fully vaccinated by January 31st and enters the premises would be in violation of By-Law 10.5 and accordingly subject to sanctions outlined under Section 12 of the MCC Constitution. This is certainly not an outcome we desire but it is essential the MCC complies with Government requirements and acts in the best interest of our members.
The Management Committee and staff would like to ensure the process is as seamless as possible for all members but with 1000 members, we will need your cooperation and understanding to follow the directives. If at any time you have an issue or require clarity on any matter, please contact the General Manager directly gm@mandcountryclub.com.au
Kind Regards
Ian Johnson, President Grant Shortland-Jones, General Manager

Covid Update – Proof of Vaccination – Friday 21 January 2022

Dear Members,
In accordance with the Western Australian Government’s announcement relating to proof of vaccination requirements from the 31st January 2022, new operational procedures are required to ensure we adhere to the new restrictions imposed by Government.
Preparation for the new restrictions requires the club to verify immunisation certificates and as you can appreciate, this is a significant workload for our club. To assist in managing the transition process, it would be greatly appreciated if members could present their respective immunisation certificates as soon as possible in order that we can process and record the information.
Accordingly, if members could please forward copies of their vaccination status by either:
- Attending the MCC administration with a printed copy. Staff will be able to assist if necessary.
- Emailing a copy of the vaccination certificate or exemption to admin@mandcountryclub.com.au
As stipulated by Government, the following are deemed acceptable forms of ‘Proof of Vaccination.’
- Service WA app
- Medicare Express app
- Digital Wallet plus form of ID
- Paper copy plus form of ID.
For those that have a medical exemption, the Chief Health Officer has approved the following forms of evidence for exempt people:
- A COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate or immunisation history statement issued to the person showing a medical exemption recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register for that person
- A temporary exemption issued to the person by the Chief Health Officer or a person authorised by the Chief Health Officer for that purpose
- A declaration of exemption issued to the person by the Chief Health Officer or a person authorised by the Chief Health Officer for that purpose.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Kind Regards
Ian Johnson, President Grant Shortland-Jones, General Manager

Covid Update – Friday 14 January 2022

Dear Members,
As you may be aware, yesterday the Premier announced restrictions to be implemented in relation to the need to be COVID-19 vaccinated before being allowed access to certain venues. The list of venues was expanded in preparation for the imminent opening of the WA borders and now includes clubs.
We continue to closely monitor COVID-19 related Government and Industry initiatives/restrictions and encourage all members to keep well-informed of the latest developments and recommendations in relation to their personal well-being. The recent Government restrictions imposed on certain venues is a timely reminder of how rapidly circumstances can change and the need for organisations to quickly implement procedures to manage requirements. The current furore over the ‘Djokovic’ saga is a timely illustration of the need for appropriate policy development and a consistent and defendable approach when applying standards.
The new requirements will of course impact the MCC in relation to accessing our facilities and subsequently the daily operations of our club. The new restraints will come in place effective Monday 31st January 2022 so there is only a couple of weeks to work through the logistics and implement operational processes. The policy change has just been announced and as to be expected, a further level of detail is required before we can correctly communicate how our club will implement the restrictions. Accordingly, we are liaising with Clubs WA and golfing bodies seeking clarification and consistency before specifying the way forward which will be communicated to all members as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
Ian Johnson Grant Shortland-Jones
President General Manager
