The current winter rules will be removed from Monday September 22nd ,also, much of the directional signage, ropes and hoops but we ask players to be conscious of wear in high traffic areas, whilst ensuring divots are chopped in. Preferred Lies will remain to take advantage of the warmer weather forecasted which promotes growth/recovery after a cold and wet winter. This will then be reviewed at the end of the month as we approach Club Championships. Privately member owned carts may now have more than two per group with sharing no longer in place. We must congratulate and thank members for the adherence to the winter wear directions.
The Club’s objective is never a short-term focus but a constant and continual improvement in the health of the course, which aids the ability to present excellent playing surfaces. There is no doubt that year upon year improvements continue, combined with the adherence to the winter rules, the surfaces for the end of winter are improving.
We are thrilled to share some great news with you. Following Mandurah Country Club’s recognition as Metropolitan Facility of the Year at the Western Australian Golf Industry Awards, Golf Australia has now awarded Mandurah the title of Most Outstanding Club, Facility or Place to Play (Metropolitian), National Awards of Excellence.
This is a remarkable achievement for our entire club community.
When we began our strategic planning journey years ago, we knew it was unrealistic to aim to be the highest-rated or “best” course, due to restrictions in land, finances or demographics. Instead, our vision was clear: to become the Club of Choice in our region and offer the best value golf membership. We committed to this through responsible governance, sound financial management, and a structured approach to continuous facility improvement—all with the goal of enhancing member services.
This award reflects that vision. Golf Australia specifically recognised the outstanding value provided to our members, which has always been a priority.
They also acknowledged our deep commitment to the broader community: – Our strong golf development programs that drive participation. – Support for community groups, especially our partnership with Indigenous youth through the Clontarf Academy. – Hosting successful events like the WA Open. – Our extensive community engagement, which contributed to securing a rare 30-year lease renewal.
Equally important was Golf Australia’s recognition of our club governance and management—the structures we’ve built, our capacity for evolution, and our financial planning, all of which have delivered exceptional results.
Every member should feel proud of this recognition. It is a testament to the dedication of our stable and responsible committees over many years, our loyal and hardworking staff, and our supportive membership. Together, these elements create the foundation for a successful club.
The MCC Board views this not as a final destination, but as a milestone on our ongoing journey. We remain committed to our strategic path while continuing to provide a vibrant and rewarding club experience for today’s members.
To honour this achievement and thank our members, the Board is pleased to announce a week of celebration – September 22, 2025.

This is a momentous occasion—and one truly worth celebrating. Thank you for being part of this journey.
From 2 October 2025, when Golf Australia’s new digital platform goes live, your GA Handicap will be calculated using updated Australian Rules of Handicapping in line with the World Handicap System. These updates will make handicaps fairer, more consistent, and more reflective of actual playing conditions.
The four key changes are:
A new “Consistency Factor” for Daily Handicap calculations, supporting fairer competition and equity for female players.
A revised formula for 9-hole rounds, making shorter formats more accurate.
Adjusted expected scores for holes not played, using statistical modelling.
A refined ’Daily Difficulty’ calculation (PCC), back-calculated to 1 January 2023.
Most golfers will see a small change to their GA Handicap on 2 October, projected to be less than 0.5 strokes on average, although some players may see a bigger adjustment based on their unique scoring history. The system applies the changes automatically, so golfers don’t need to do anything.
