Course Update – October 2025

Hole 1 – Drop Zone Introduced
A designated drop zone has now been established on the 1st hole at the bunker marked as Ground Under Repair (GUR). This aims to improve pace of play and ensure consistency in rulings.

 New Electric Fairway Mower
We’re pleased to announce the arrival of a new electric fairway mower, a $140,000 investment that modernizes our equipment fleet. This upgrade allows our team to begin mowing from 5:00 AM, thanks to its quiet operation. The result: improved labour efficiency and minimal disruption to members with reduced fairway mowing during peak playing times.

 Irrigation System Challenges
In the last few days, a number of issues have highlighted the fragility of our aging irrigation infrastructure:

  • Wiring Fault: A fault disabled irrigation across half the course. Due to the system’s age, fault detection is manual—each decoder must be excavated and tested individually, a time-consuming and labour-intensive process.
  • Main Line Break – Hole 1: A significant rupture occurred in the main line. The system comprises original piping and various patchwork repairs over the years. These legacy fixes often required manipulation to fit outdated infrastructure, placing stress on the pipework and leading to failures like the one shown in the attached images.

These incidents pose a serious risk to turf health, especially in warmer months. Fortunately, recent rainfall has helped mitigate immediate damage. However, the time and resources required to locate and repair faults detract from our ability to present the course at its best—particularly in preparation for championship events.

We’re pleased to confirm that the irrigation upgrade will commence in April 2026, with a projected duration of 12–14 weeks. These recent challenges underscore the importance of maintaining and upgrading core infrastructure essential to the operation of a golf facility.
