Changes to Club Policy and Club Bylaws – Friday 8 November 2024

Important By Law Updates
The Board have passed a number of updates to the By Laws, which are explained below, and a full copy of the By Laws are attached.
Please take the time to read below, as it includes an immediate three-month suspension for BYO Liquor on the golf course.
As a brief background to this, for the Club to allow the consumption of Liquor on the golf course, the full course had to be changed to be part of the Club’s Licensed Premises, with controls in our Club License to how much and how Liquor can be sold, especially when selling unsealed drinks.
This means, no BYO Liquor can be brought onto the licensed premises, and to ensure protection of the Club’s license, the Club must have a zero-tolerance approach under the Liquor Act.
Changes to Club Policy and Club By Laws as detailed below:
Smoking/Vaping Policy
The Governance Committee and the Board have reviewed our obligations regarding smoking areas around the Clubhouse. Under the WA Regulations, there is to be no smoking or vaping up to 10 meters of the Clubhouse doors and aircon units.
As a result, there will be one designated smoking area which will be in front of the gates adjacent to the external kitchen entrance. This will now become the only area in which smoking/vaping is allowed and we ask members to self-regulate and please adhere to this direction. This area will be marked on the ground.
This will be reviewed yearly as we may look at becoming a totally smoke free venue including all Clubhouse surrounds if we can’t properly adhere to the WA Regulations.
Changes to By Laws
Please note that there has been changes to the existing By Laws as follows:
- Election of Captains and Vice Captains, 2.9.- inserted “for nomination of Captain and Vice-Captain” and “or a Captains resigns partway through their term”
- Motorised Golf Cart Usage, 6.9 – Inserted “the use of member owned cart is subject to Board approval”.
- Introductory Restricted Ordinary Member, 8.6 – Inserted “This category is a trial and therefore, once a member books 70 games in a membership year, they play past what would be deemed as “trialling” the club and will automatically be transferred to the Ordinary Membership Category and Full Annual Ordinary Fees will apply.”
New By Law – 5.8. BYO Alcohol on Course and in Clubhouse
To ensure we meet our obligations under the Liquor Act the following By Law has been created:
- No member shall bring and consume BYO alcohol on to the Course or Clubhouse. Failure to comply with this by-law will result in an immediate suspension of membership for a period no less than three (3) months.
The complete By Laws can be found on the Club’s website under “About Us” or the link below.
