Practice Range and Course Update

Dear Members
Range
We have purchased yellow practice range balls, White balls must not be on the range . This has been introduced for risk mitigation as yellow balls will reduce the need to walk onto the range to search for a ball off the 18th tee, whilst they are also a three-quarter flight ball, to reduce balls leaving the range area.
We have also had a large amount of theft of range balls. We need to discourage these sorts of people seeing the club as a target for theft.
Please ensure you do not keep any range balls in your possession, nor are they to be used on course or hole 10a practice area.
Carts
With the first rains about to hit, we advise the following:
- Private owned carts- Members that have a privately owned cart should share with another member that has a private cart, when playing in the same group. We have an extraordinarily high amount of these carts that are in high use. Carts should be shared at every opportunity.
- Club Carts for hire- Where possible, the staff will try to ensure members are sharing carts when hiring from the club. This can be difficult in a busy golf shop, but we will do the best we can to manage a reduction in cart use. If you are playing in a group where you know the player and are aware they have a cart, please try to arrange the shared use.
- No Carts on Course- This is rare, as we understand so many members are reliant on carts to play, but if we have heavy rains, there will be times carts cannot be used. Staff will always keep the tee sheets updated, both before and during a day, so if bad weather is forecast, please always check timesheets for the state of play.
Traffic Movement- Walkers and Riders
You will notice hoops, ropes and signs are starting to be placed in areas of high wear. Although these have some inconveniences, this is the most effective mechanism to control wear as they are temporary and can be removed whenever required. They are also seen well in advance, so we ask you to veer early to spread the wear when arriving at these roped or hooped areas. Please also:
- Do not move through wet mudding areas.
- If you are approaching wear patches, move away from them, not through them
- Avoid walking along green fringes, keep 3m+ from green edges with your push buggies
Please stop at the roped areas and walk to tees and greens. As an example, the 13th green to 14th tee is roped off to park and walk back to the tee box, not to drive around and park as close as possible to the tee.
This means there is some additional walking through the winter months, but this is required to protect the playing surfaces.
Whilst so many courses have struggled through another difficult, dry summer, Stewart and his team have done an outstanding job presenting the course.
