Men’s Monthly Mug and Mixed Competition – Changes to come into effect Saturday 6 April 2024.

Men’s Monthly Mug and Mixed Competition – Changes to come into effect Saturday 6 April 2024.

At the recent Men’s Match Committee meeting the issue of pace of play was discussed and in particular the Monthly Mug & Mixed competition.  On March 9th the last groups in the afternoon field took over 5hrs to complete their round while the last groups in the morning field were slow through the turn causing a delay with the afternoon field commencing their rounds.  This situation has been occurring for some time and the committee feels some action must be taken.

So that the fields in both the morning and afternoon can play at a reasonable pace, complete their rounds in an acceptable time and enjoy the competition the following changes will be made to future Men’s Monthly Mug and the associated Mixed competitions.

  • Both competitions will be shotgun starts, AM at 0730 and PM at 1230.
  • The Monthly Mug will be played from the Black Tee markers.
  • The Mixed competition will be a Par event, Men playing from the Blue Tee markers and Women from the Red Tee markers.
  • Bar style food will be supplied by the Match Committee at the completion of play for both the AM and PM fields.
  • Competitors are asked to arrive in time to register and proceed to their starting tee.

These changes will come into effect for the April Monthly Mug on Saturday 6th April 2024.

Please be patient with Golf Shop staff when registering and players are asked to consider their fellow competitors at all times and familiarize themselves with the pace of play guidelines on P14 of the 2024 Fixture Book.

From the President – March Update 2024

From the President – March Update 2024

Dear Members,

The 2024 Golfing Season is underway.  On Sunday 17th March 2024 we held the Club Opening Day, a Mixed Canadian event with approx 120 players followed by a dinner, the day coincided with St Patrick’s Day which created additional fun and produced some “fascinating costumes”.

At the evening dinner, I provided an update on several key happenings around the Club.  Below I have summarised these for those who weren’t in attendance.

Since the changes to the Constitution last year, we now have a Board of Directors in place.  Each of us have our Roles and Responsibilities developed and will soon be added to the updated Club By-Laws.  Supporting these Directors are a number of Sub Committees which are also up and running.  Thanks to all who have volunteered into these Committees.

We have reached an agreement with Mandurah City Council on our lease which is now for 30 years.  An amazing position for us to be in.  A comprehensive Tree Management Plan is part of the new lease which we fully support.  We are currently getting one last legal review from our position before it will be finalised over the next two months.

The balcony installation is underway which will be a great addition to what we already have in an impressive Club House.  It is anticipated that I will be finished around mid year.  Your patience and cooperation while the construction is happening is appreciated.

You are aware that we will be hosting the WA Open in October 2024.  Meetings are occurring with Golf WA which will define the level of involvement from our Club.  We will definitely be looking for volunteers prior to and during the event and I’m sure many of you will step up to assist.  Once we know what is expected we will send out further details.

Continue to enjoy our fantastic Club and hope you have great results on the Course.

Ron Stone, President
