An Update from President, Ron Stone

Dear Members,

It is a pleasure to serve as the Mandurah Country Club President, as we look forward to an exciting year ahead.

I welcome and thank fellow Board Members: Danielle Hunt, Graeme Parsons, Colin Evans, Jack Baynes and John Benbow for their nomination to the Board. Although we have collective areas of responsibilities to govern, the current priority will be to work through the new structure change and set up strong Governance processes and systems for all Sub Committees and future Boards.

Once completed, we will communicate this to all members and move onto Strategic Plan objectives, so I ask that the Chairs are given the time and space to undertake this priority task.

If you are interested in volunteering on Sub Committees, please contact and General Manager, Grant Shortland-Jones. The Sub Committees will form an extremely important part of reviewing, with recommendations to the Board.

We have started a very busy festive seasons with a busy golf course and daily functions.
Can I express to members the importance of your kindness and respect to employees during this period, and ongoing. Employees have the difficult task to manage all operations, ensure members and guests have a great experience, but they also must uphold the rules of the Club and Laws our Club must adhere to. Staffing is still and issue in Western Australia and it is imperative we create an environment that attracts great employees to our club.
If there is an issue to address, or any matters that members have a grievance with, this may only be taken up with the General Manger.

We have the Junior Fundraising day on Friday 15 December 2023, and it will be great to see some of current MCC touring Pro’s and past Professional’s come back to the club. Any room that will have Scrivy, Becker, Big Red, Toby, Gaz and all the crew will be great fun and not to be missed, whilst raising funds for the Junior academy. So get in quick and put your team forward.

Junior Fundraiser and Pro Am 2023 – From Braden Becker

Join Us for a Fun Junior Fundraising Event!

Dear Member,

It’s Braden Becker here and we are excited to announce a special junior fundraising event, and we would love for you to join us in making it a great success!

Personally, as a Professional now and a junior member since I was 8 years old, I have received massive amount of support from you all as members. I would love to pass this forward to the new juniors coming through and make it easier for them in the future. All I am asking is that you consider playing in our event to support future growth in your club and the young people coming through.

Our golf club has always fostered the growth of young Junior golfers due to leadership from our ongoing resident golf professional Gary Colquhoun and Teaching Professional Craig Tapp (Tappie).

Our vision for the event was to collect all of our successful Professional golfers from all over the state who have all come through our Junior ranks and become either Touring Professionals like Jarrod Moseley, Jason Scrivener, Cooper Geddes, Hayley Bettencourt, Kathryn Norris, and myself Braden Becker or Club & Teaching Professionals such as Gary Colquhoun himself and others such as Craig Tapp, Troy Murphy, Toby Price, Brenton Haines, Travis Lord, Craig Lowry and many others, with the aim to teach the next generation the sport we love. As I previously stated we are excited to announce this upcoming event and we would like you to enter the event and come along for what will be and awesome fun day for your club!

We have already received great interest from Spotter Finance owned by Harley West, formerly known as (Launch Finance), a newly owned finance company with a member of ours Steve Milligan who has pushed to maintain his ongoing support towards our club but specifically our Junior division and we would love your support going forward in our event & Golf Club.

All details are included in poster below, the date being Friday 15th December 2023 at the Mandurah Country Club.

Game format: Tour Scramble, all players tee off, the best drive is selected, all players play from the spot in individual Stableford. The best 2 scores from the team are recorded.
